Don't believe I've intentionally downloaded anything that would have caused this unless I got a bad update from Windows update, as those are the only recent downloads my system is showing. I ran a complete system scan with Avast! but it reported no infections. Apps either take forever to open or don't open at all, it is impossible to shut the system down without a hard reboot. In the last couple of days, my system is almost completely unresponsive unless started in "safe" mode.
